Her hair is woven into an intricate tapestry that traces the evolution of vertebrae life on the land. Delicate etchings on Her legs depict the evolution of life in the sea. The plant kingdom is expressed in her leafy hair which culminates in the majestic redwood forest on the right arm and the tropical rainforest on her left arm.

Diana is the name for the Greek Goddess Artemis. She is a Virgin Goddess in the original sense of the word,'whole unto herself'. She is free to choose lovers as she wishes. She roams the woods with her nymphs and this is associated with the Amazons and relationships between women. Many lesbians identify with her for this reason. Artemis is also a great helper of women: "In the Greek myths she protects her mother and rescues numerous women from rape. She is also the goddess who aids in childbirth; the labor-easing herb artemisia is named after her." ( from The Heart of the Goddess by Hallie Inglehart Austen) Today she is called on as a protector of women, children and animals. Invoke her to remind you of your strength, autonomy and freedom.

"From the chrysalis of death we are reborn..."
Though the name and story of Psyche comes to us from a Greek legend, the origin of Psyche both as an archetype and as a primordial goddess can be traced to Neolithic worship of Butterfly and Bee Goddesses. Such creatures who undergo a physical metamorphosis became symbols for the death of the body and rebirth of the spirit in a different form. The butterfly reminds us of the value of contemplative stillness in the process of transformation.

Spirit of Air, Bringer of dawn
Keeper of the powers of Air, She possesses multiple aspects: the Maiden who singing brings the dawn, the mother of the Winds who hatches the Cosmic Egg and the dark-winged Crone who guides spirits of the newly dead into the heavenly afterlife. In all her aspects she connects our spirits with the element Air.

"The Lady in the Moon"
The Moon is considered to be feminine in most cultures. She controls both the tides of the sea and the tides and cycles of women's bodies. The Moon has been worshipped as a Goddess under many names including Artemis, Diana, Selene, Luna, Hina, Izchel,Arianrhod, and Heng-O. In her three most distinct phases, waxing, full and waning she is associated with the three phases of womanhood; Maiden, Mother, Crone.

This finely detailed Goddess evokes the feminine essence of the seas. Sea Goddesses have been worshipped throughout the world. She is called by many names including Yemaya, Amphitrite, Sedna, and Tien-Hou. The most ancient pre-Hellenic Sea Goddess was Tethys who is said to be the Fish-Mother, creator of all sea life.
